(Third and Fourth Generations:)
The following section records the names of the third and fourth generation New Zealanders, who are descended from the original three Rabbit brothers; i.e; John, Patrick, and William. The names for the Third Generation are believed to be complete. Should there be errors or omissions from this list, the authors' would like to be informed, so that original records may be updated.
The Fourth generation is also believed to be correct. Best efforts have been made to include all the names, and to get the correct spellings etc. Members of the Fourth generation are now spread all over the world, and the details shown here represent our knowledge at the time this edition of the review was put together.
In this version the Lists do not include the town or area where the family members of the 3rd and 4th generations lived. As people generally have been become more mobile, this information is of limited value, as it is likely to become outdated very quickly.
In this version the Lists do not record if a person is deceased. To do this would suggest that all others are alive. In time this will become incorrect, so no reference at all has been made.
Obviously, there are large numbers of names now involved in this family review - over 300 in fact. The Rabbitt(e) surname is still exists, but perhaps not in the numbers that may have been expected. There are still Rabbitt(e) males to ensure that the name does not die out at least for a generation or two! It is pleasing to note that the re-emergence of given names such as John, Patrick, William, and Michael, will ensure that the “Irishness” of our origins will never be forgotten.
It has been decided not to expand the Lists to include the names of the Fifth and Sixth Generation. Any information that was included would soon become incomplete or inaccurate and for this reason these generations are not included. Anyone wishing to list the next generations is welcome to draw on the information in this work, as a starting point.
